XL starts with the 2.5L Hybrid powertrain, a 13.2-inch SYNC® 4 touchscreen, 8-inch digital cluster, FLEXBED® storage system, and Ford Co-Pilot360® technology. XLT adds painted aluminum wheels, upgraded cloth seating, Intelligent Access with push-button start, a standard 2K trailer hitch receiver, and additional bed storage. The 2.5L full-hybrid 4-cylinder powertrain produces 191 combined hp and 155 lbs. ft. of torque and pairs with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. It can be configured with FWD or AWD and returns up to an estimated 42 mpg city and 35 mpg highway with FWD. The available 2.0L EcoBoost® turbocharged 4-cylinder produces 250 hp and up to 280 lbs. ft. of torque. Most configurations pair it with an 8-speed automatic, while Lobo™ receives its performance-oriented 7-speed Quick Shift automatic.

Properly equipped with the available 4K Tow Package, the Maverick® can tow up to 4,000 lbs., while maximum payload reaches approximately 1,500 lbs. Available FX4® Off-Road equipment adds upgraded suspension components, skid plates, Hill Descent Control™, and additional drive modes for unpaved terrain. Tremor® builds further on off-road capability, while Lobo™ uses its performance-tuned chassis and Advanced 4WD system to emphasize sharper responses on pavement.
